| Since 2003, one of India Point
Park's favorite places is the new playground located
between the Gano Street entrance to the Park and the shoreline
overlooking the Seekonk River. Designed in
collaboration by the Friends of India Point Park, the Providence Parks Department, and Bradford
Associates, the playground reflects a maritime theme demonstrated by
boat-shaped sandboxes, climbing ropes, a flagpole with yardarm, and
other equipment. |

The northern edge of
the playground is hugged by a retaining wall embellished by "Past
Points." This stoneware mosaic mural was designed by artists Mika
Seeger and Peter Geisser and completed with the help of hundreds of
community participants. The capitivating scene encompasses boats,
piers, wharfs, people, creatures of land and water, the Fox Point
streetscape, and the swirling sea. |

| Work continues on the
Past Points mural in 2005. Please visit and take a swing on the
swingset or a climb on the ropes. Or spend some time taking in all the
details of the "Past Points" mural. Click here for a long
list of all the discoveries you will find in "Past Points"
