FIRST CAPITAL CAMPAIGN

Thank you for helping Friends of India Point Park to raise $26,379.86 for our first-ever capital campaign. We surpassed our goal (!) to raise $25,000 to:

burying the waterfront power lines

expanding the waterfront public space

new playground

cleanups and tree mulching

2005 capital campaign

  • design and build a bulletin board kiosk to enhance the park's sense of community

  • complete the "Past Points" mosaic mural by funding a new collaboration between artists Mika Seeger and Peter Geisser with students from Hope High School

  • install more picnic tables and new trash cans

  • improve the park's landscaping with low-maintenance plantings, cobblestones, and mulch

We teamed up with public partners like Councilman David Segal who secured Ward 1 bond monies for the tile project and the bulletin board and the RI State Council on the Arts which initiated the tile project. Several local businesses made generous contributions -- Doyle Realty, Dunkin' Donuts, Radisson Hotel Providence, and Karezz Personal Care Salon -- and other nearby businesses generously donated in-kind services: Adler's Hardware, Central Nurseries, Lowe's, Home Depot, and Mae Warner/Eden Design.

And we received donations from 90 individuals and families...90+ new Friends of India Point Park!

There is always another worthy project to complete in India Point Park.  If you would like to support additional improvements, click here to download a copy of the 2005 Capital Campaign appeal (pdf).

    See you in the park!
