GROUPS AND OFFICIALS SHOW BROAD SUPPORT FOR BURYING THE WATERFRONT POWER LINES

More than 50 LOCAL AND STATEWIDE GROUPS AND OFFICIALS support burying the power lines on the Providence/East Providence waterfront, as indicated by statements issued by, among others, the:
>Governor, Lt. Governor, Attorney General, and Cong. Kennedy
>Presidents of Brown, RISD, and Johnson and Wales
>Providence and East Providence City Councils
>citizens associations from nine city neighborhoods, and many advocacy and professional groups

The Community Associations represent Fox Point, College Hill, Downtown, Cape Verdeans, the Jewelry District, West Broadway, the Southside, Summit, and South Main Street.

The Business and Professional Associations include the Providence Tourism Council, Downtown Merchants Association, and American Institute of Architects, RI Chapter

The Statewide Advocacy Organizations include Save the Bay, the Sierra Club, Preserve Rhode Island, the RI Tree Council, and the Conservation Law Foundation
